Everything you need to know before your first visit — and beyond.
Chiropractic care focuses on the spine and nervous system, using specific adjustments to improve spinal function and support the body's ability to move well, adapt to everyday stresses, and function at its best. Our goal is to help you continue enjoying the activities that matter most to you.
Yes. Research shows chiropractic care is a remarkably safe form of healthcare when delivered by a qualified chiropractor. Whether we're caring for a newborn, a pregnant mum, a weekend athlete or an older adult, every assessment and adjustment is tailored to the individual's age, health, and needs. Some people may experience mild stiffness or soreness after an adjustment, but this is usually temporary and settles within a day or two.
The popping or cracking sound you sometimes hear during an adjustment is completely normal. It's simply the release of gas within a joint, similar to cracking your knuckles, and isn't a sign of damage or arthritis. Whether an adjustment makes a sound or not has no bearing on how effective it is.
Absolutely. While many people first visit us because of back or neck pain, families choose chiropractic care for many different reasons. Some are looking for relief from headaches, sciatica or pregnancy-related discomfort, while others want to improve their posture, support healthy ageing, enhance sports performance, sleep better, or simply help their body move and function at its best.
A subluxation is an area of the spine that has lost its proper movement that may interfere with nervous system function. You might not feel it directly, but it can affect how your body operates. Practitioners use precise, targeted adjustments to correct subluxations and restore proper balance to the spine and nervous system.
Chiropractic works synergistically with conventional medicine by addressing root causes that medical treatment may not focus on. Our practitioners refer patients to other health professionals when appropriate and actively coordinate with GPs to ensure comprehensive, integrated care.
No, adjustments are generally painless. Techniques are always tailored to your individual needs and comfort level. Some patients feel mild tenderness for a day or two after their first few visits, similar to the feeling after starting a new exercise routine.
Many of the world's top athletes include chiropractic care as part of their overall approach to health and performance. But you don't need to compete at an elite level to benefit. Whether you're training in the gym, playing social sport, hiking, running, cycling or simply keeping up with your kids or grandkids, chiropractic care can help support the way your body moves, adapts and performs.
Frequency varies by individual. During your initial consultation, your practitioner will assess your condition and discuss your health goals before recommending a personalised care plan.
Yes. ACC recognises the effectiveness of chiropractic care and subsidises treatment for valid ACC claims. If your condition is related to an injury, you may be entitled to ACC funding.
You can book an appointment online, by phone or by email. At your first visit, we'll take the time to get to know you, discuss your health history, complete a thorough chiropractic assessment and, if clinically appropriate, take digital X-rays using our on-site facilities. We'll then explain our findings and discuss the best next steps for your care.
Yes. Chiropractic care during pregnancy focuses on supporting your body's ability to adapt to the many physical changes that occur as your baby grows. By helping maintain healthy movement and function of the spine and pelvis, many women find they are able to stay active, comfortable and enjoy their pregnancy. While many women first seek care for back pain, pelvic discomfort or sciatica, others choose chiropractic care as part of supporting a healthy, active pregnancy from beginning to end.
X-rays are used only when essential for assessment, not as a routine requirement for every patient. When they are required, we use low-dose radiation technology and follow best practice guidelines.
No. You are always in control of your care duration. Care plans are flexible, designed for either short-term relief or long-term wellness goals, according to your preferences.
Yes. Care is always adapted to your specific situation. If you have a complex or serious medical condition, we will coordinate with your other healthcare providers.
Comfortable clothing that allows easy movement is ideal, such as loose pants, t-shirts, or activewear.
No. Chiropractors use natural, drug-free methods. This is a core part of the chiropractic philosophy, addressing the body's structure and nervous system to support its innate ability to heal.
We're happy to talk through anything before you book.
